chosen family wine

During the Summer of 2020 I received the opportunity to work with the lovely folks over at Studio Mega. During my 4 months of freelancing I got to help the Mega team members with their client Chosen Family Wines created by professional basketball player Channing Frye. I was tasked to create an illustration & color-way for their limited Chosen Family X L’angolo Estate 2019 Chardonnay as well as their 2020 Rose wine labels.

“this is a passion project. i get excited talking about this every day. in my office at home, i have my championship ring, and then right next to it is my first chardonnay and pinot noir bottles. the three things that for me, outside of my family, i’m the most proud of.”

ON CLOUD WINE

My inspiration for texture came from the ridges seen in the cement of an outdoor basketball court. I paired that with loose shapes of the Dundee Valley hills and I created an illustration I felt expressed the idea of relaxing and sipping away at a crisp Chardonnay.

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSÉ

Tasked with creating a “cool summer pool scene”, I immediately thought of memories of my friends during warm summer days, this ignited my inspiration. Additionally taking notes from David Hockney’s pool paintings, in combination with a bright pink and blue color scheme I was able to create an illustration with a mid-century flare that still feel fresh and playful.

CHOSEN FAMILY WEBSITE

Later I was tasked with creating a one page site that felt cohesive with the existing branding, and that highlighted the overall brand story. To do this, I focused on utilizing elements in the branding such as their bold typefaces and array of photos to create collage like elements. Doing so we were able to create a site that showcases the brands origins as well as their exclusive line of wines.
